First of all, where is Tyabb most of you will ask....well it is about 70kms south east of Melbourne, here in Volcanic Ash free Victoria, Australia. It is a small regional airfield, and home to a great little show with some quite rare attractions, and a lot of Australian built and designed models too.
I took my four year son old Liam to his first airshow, and this is some of what we saw.
Star of the show this year for many, and painstakingly restored over the last twenty years at the airfield after it was recovered from a jungle/swamp in Vanuatu is Judy Pay's P-40F Warhawk, the ONLY airworthy example in the world.
Also one of only three CAC Boomerangs flying in the Australia - there is one more in the US but that has Harvard wings
The CAC Wirraway
The CAC Winjeel
Two of the Harvards of the Southern Knights
A replica Sopwith Pup from the RAAF Museum at Point Cook
In Candy Apple Red surely one of the most stunning looking Pitts Specials
One of two T-28 Trojans flying on the day
A CAC CA-18 Mustang...ie Australian Made
And a Spitfire MK VIII
And flying together
I look forward to the next one in 2012. |
